Author: John Holme Burrow (1832–1876)

Biography: John Holme Burrow was born in 1832 in Settle, Yorkshire, the son of surgeon Thomas Dixon Burrow. He attended St. Catherine's College, Cambridge, and graduated with a B. A. in 1855. An avid fossil collector, he amassed a huge collection which he eventually sold to a museum. He suffered from poor health (perhaps consumption) and lived in London with his artist sister Agnes. He wrote two juvenile works and the novel Jabez Oliphant (1870). He died in 1876 in London.
