Biography: Edith Laxon Chamberlain was born on 7 December 1849 in Tenbury Wells, the daughter of surgeon John Laxon Sweet and his wife Emma Elizabeth. In 1880, she married brewer Thomas Chamberlain. In addition to her fiction, she describes her occupation as journalist in the censuses. She died on 7 January 1931 in Faversham.
