Biography: Major Robert Dwarris Gibney was born in 1826 in Cheltenham, the son of Dr. W. Gibney. He joined the army in 1842 and served with the 59th Bengal Native Infantry. Gibney saw action in the mutiny before being sent home due to ill health. He wrote several works of fiction and history. Mid-life, he assumed the name "Dwarris." He died on 18 April 1906 in Falmouth.
