Author: William Alfred Gibbs (1819–1900)
Biography: William Alfred Gibbs was born in 1819 in Islington, the son of butcher David Gibbs and his wife Anne Marshall. He became a successful London soap manufacturer. In his spare time he wrote several collections of poems as well as one novel published anonymously. He died on 6 August 1900.
