Biography: Charlotte Stewart was born on 30 September 1863 in Cachar, Assam, the only child of Col. Robert Stewart (died 1882) of Ardvorlich and his wife Charlotte Joanna (née Murray). She never married and turned to writing, beginning with The Hon. Stanbury and Others (1894). She lived with her mother until her death on 18 April 1918 in Crieff, Scotland.
