Author: John W. Graham (1852–1935)

Biography: John William Graham was born in 1852 in Bebington, Cheshire, the son Edward Graham, a tobacco manufacturer in Liverpool. Initially, he worked in his father's business before briefly turning to literature with the historical novel Neaera: A Tale of Ancient Rome (1886). Graham then joined his cousin's wine and spirit business in Liverpool. He wrote one further novel, Harlaw of Sendle (1901). In all, he was a successful business man but a middling author. In 1880, he married Mary Ackerley and the couple had six children. He died on 7 May 1935 in Shrewsbury, but buried in Liverpool.
