Author: Hugh Neville (1851–1897)
Biography: Hugh Neville was born on 9 June 1851 in London, the third son of Ralph Neville-Grenville of Butleigh Court near Glastonbury. He attended Eton and Magdalen College, Cambridge, earning an B. A. (1874) and an M. A. (1878). As a youth, he wrote a single novel, Sir Richard (1870). He entered the Sri Lankan [Ceylon] civil service and served in a number of legal positions. While abroad, he discovered and described several new species and collected shells and manuscripts. Neville edited a journal of Eastern studies The Taprobanian (1885–1888). He died on 10 April 1897 in Hyères, France.
