Biography: Aaron Watson began his career in 1873 when he founded a weekly paper called the Critic in Newcastle. When it failed, he joined the Newcastle Chronicle and from there worked on a number of newspapers such as the Pall Mall Gazette, the Evening News, the Echo, the Shields Daily Gazette, and the Newcastle Daily Leader. In addition he published volumes of biography, essays, travel, verse, memoir, and fiction. In 1871, he married Phebe Gibling and the couple had four children.
