Author: Seth Russell Whitney (1841–1907)
Biography: Seth Russell Whitney was born in 1841 in Peekskill, New York, the son of a prominent family. In the early 1860s, he moved to England. In 1864, he married Marina Charlotte Carpenter, the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Carpenter of the Indian Army. Judging by the birthplaces of their several children, the family traveled widely in Europe. While living in London, Whitney wrote two novels. By the 1880s, Whitney and his family returned to the United States where he contributed to newspapers. He died on 29 March 1907 in New York.
