Author: Stella Austin (1846–1893)

Biography: Stella Austin was born around 1846 in Wotton-under-Edge, the daughter of Captain Austin and his wife Martha. Her early life cannot be traced. By 1861, she lived with her widowed mother in Cheltenham. She turned her hand to fiction beginning with the popular Stumps (1873). She followed with many more. According to Boase, she entered the church of Rome in 1885. She never married and died on 13 August 1893 in Wimbleton.
