Biography: Emily Brodie was born around 1853 in London. Her early life cannot be traced. In 1875, she married civil servant Busfeild Francis Brodie and the couple had five children. After her marriage, Brodie began a fairly successful writing career, publishing 21 titles in two decades. The couple lived their later years in Surrey where Brodie died on 8 October 1935 in Walton on Thames. A daughter Emily Grace who married (and later divorced) Gerald Carlyle Allingham also became a writer.
