Biography: Lillias Lobenhoffer was born on 7 March 1835 in Rowley Regis, the third child of schoolmaster Thomas Somerville and his wife Mary Maria (née Cochrane). In 1857, she married German professor Carl Lobenhoffer and the couple lived in Germany for a time. On their return to England, Lillias began a girls' school in Wilmslow. In addition, she wrote several novels beginning with Fritz of the Tower (1887). She died on 2 October 1900 in Wilmslow.
