Biography: Ada Isabel Bradshaw was born in 1847 in Eccles, the daughter of merchant Thomas Bradshaw and his wife Ann Isabella (née Houton). In 1865, she married her cousin John Bradshaw and the couple had no children. By his own admission, her husband was a "rolling stone" and the couple visited or lived in the Americas, France, and Italy. For six years, the Bradshaws operated a sheep farm in New Zealand where he was the chairman of the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association. On their return to England in 1885, she and her husband each published several novels. Bradshaw died on 8 February 1900 in Whetstone. Her husband died a few years later in 1902. Note: Loeber misidentifies this author as an Irish woman.
