Author: Philip Woolf (1845–1903)

Biography: Philip Woolf was born on 7 February 1845 in New York, the son of Edward Woolf and his wife Sarah. He studied medicine at Bellevue Hospital Medical College, though there is little evidence he practiced. Instead, he turned to journalism and worked on the Boston Leader and Boston Saturday Evening Gazette. In addition, he wrote several novels, one of which appeared in England. He died on 31 August 1903 in New York.
