Author: Mary Doig (1841–1911)
Biography: Mary Doig was born on 17 August 1841 in Torryburn, Scotland, the youngest child of Free Church minister Thomas M. A. Doig and his wife Anne (née Anderson). She never married and appears to have lived her entire life in Torryburn with her parents or her elder sisters. In addition to a children's book on astronomy, she wrote two historical novels. Doig died on 18 November 1911 in Torryburn.
