Biography: Emily Mary Walker was born in 1844 in London, the daughter of of solicitor William Kinsey and his wife Elizabeth. In 1868, she married printer and landowner Robert Cradock Nichols and the couple would have no children. After her husband died in 1892, she married Henry Faure Walker of Highley Manor the following year. It was at this time she turned to writing with the novel Misconception (1898). She died on 26 November 1907 in Balcombe after a brief illness. According to her obituary, she took a great interest in helping the less fortunate in her community.
