Biography: Dorothea Townshend was born in 1852 in Hilderstone, Staffordshire, the daughter of clergyman R. Bourne Baker of Hasfield Court, Gloucestershire. She was the granddaughter of J. H. Singer, Lord Bishop of Meath. In 1881, she marred the novelist Richard Baxter Townshend. In addition to biographical and historical works, she wrote several novels. She died on 30 November 1930 in Oxford.
