Author: Gertrude Hollis (1863–1943)
Biography: Gertrude Hollis was born on 14 March 1863 in Hanbury, Staffordshire, the daughter of colliery owner Henry William Hollis and Elizabeth Podmore. Her brother was the Bishop of Taunton. Hollis dedicated her life to church work and literature. For the latter, she wrote fiction and church histories as well as contributions to the press. She never married and died on 5 June 1943 in Northampton.
