Author: Archibald Fergusson (1821–1900)

Biography: Archibald Fergusson was born around 1821 in Perth. His early life cannot be traced. He recieved some education and joined the Baptist ministery before moving to London where he initially worked among the poor. He subsequently taught at C. H. Spurgeon's religious college. Fergusson was instrumental in starting the West Ealing Baptist Chapel where he served for twenty-eight years. He married and had six children. He wrote two lightly fictionalized accounts of his experiences among his parishioners. His last eight years were marred by poor health including blindness. He died in December 1900 in Brentford.
