Author: Andrew Morton Brown (1812–1879)
Biography: Andrew Morton Brown was born on 12 March 1812 near Loudown, Ayrshire. He studied for the ministry at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, earning a LL.D. at the latter. He went on to serve as a Congregational minister at Poole (1837–1843) and Cheltenham (1843 to his death). Brown married Susan Davie and the couple had three children. In addition to historical and religious works, Brown wrote a single historical novel. He died on 17 July 1879 while visiting Bridport.
