Author: Sir Edmund Reginald Talbot de la Pole (1844–1912)

Alternate Name(s): Baronet (title)

Biography: Sir Edmund Reginald Talbot de la Pole was born in 1844, the son of Sir William Edmund Pole, ninth baronet. He was twice married but left no children. He dedicated much of his life to his estate in Shute, Devonshire, local charities, and agriculture. He did write a novel called A Girl of a Thousand (1877) which he published anonymously after Bentley rejected it. This seems to be his only foray into literature. His second wife died suddenly in Brighton from which shock Sir Edmund never truly recovered from. He died on 26 August 1912 at his home. Note: the attribution is confirmed by a letter in the Bentley archives.
