Summary: Norman Adair reconnects with his childhood playmate, now a married mother. Note: It appears there are different endings. The European editions (F. V. White and Tauchnitz) are more upbeat whereas the American edition (J. B. Lippincott) is more downbeat. Also, the eponymous Mrs. Crichton is named "Gwendoline" in the European editions and "Constance" in the American edition. (LP)
