Biography: Ellen Mary Hazelton Black was born around 1861 in Co. Antrim, Ireland, the daughter of landowner Thomas Hazelton Black and his wife Harriet. By 1871, the family lived in Louth, Linolnshire. Her father died in 1881. The following year, Black legally changed her name to "Hazelton Black." Under the pseudonym "Scott Graham," Black wrote several novels beginning with The Golden Milestone (1885). She never married and lived her later life in the London area. She died in 1954 in Willesden.
