Author: Frances Geraldine Southern (1855–1901)
Biography: Frances Geraldine Southern was born in 1855 in Clunbury, Shropshire, the daughter of farmer and landowner Francis Southern. Her early childhood cannot be traced. By her early twenties, she was the author of two novels and continued to publish fiction and poetry in newspapers. In 1891, she lived with her barrister uncle in London. Poor health drove her to Maidenhead where she died on 23 October 1901.
