Biography: Mary Augusta De Morgan was born on 24 February 1850 in London, the daughter of mathematician Augustus De Morgan and author Sophia Elizabeth De Morgan (née Frend). She was the sister of artist and novelist William De Morgan with whom she lived for a time in Chelsea. She wrote several collections of fairy tales as well as a novel. In addition, she was an ardent suffragist. She suffered from tuberculosis and moved to Cairo, Egypt for her health. While there, she help to run a school for girls. She died on 17 May 1907 in Cairo.
