Author: Caroline Harriett Banister (1808–1880)
Biography: Caroline Harriett Banister was born in 1808 in London, the daughter of George Banister and his wife Ann. Her early life cannot be traced. Presumably she traveled to Italy, the setting of her first novel Angelo: A Romance of Modern Rome (1854) published anonymously. By 1861, she lived with her uncle Edward Banister, an attorney in Shipston on Stour. While there, she published a second novel Reverses (1864). She never married and she died there in February 1880.
