Author: Bayard Taylor (1825–1878)
Biography: Bayard Taylor was born in 1825 in Pennsylvania. He traveled widely and worked as a journalist. In 1862 he entered the diplomatic service as Secretary of Legation and Charge d'Affaires at St. Petersburg and United States Minister to Germany. He was a prolific writer of history, poetry, travel, and fiction. He died in 1878 in Berlin.
