Biography: Amelie Goldberg ("Nadage Doree") was born on 22 February 1862 in New Orleans, the daughter of Benjamin and Ellen Goldberg. As a young woman, she worked as a singer and actress under several stage names but primarily "Nadage Doree." Her career led her on tours in Europe and North America. Throughout her life, she was active in Jewish causes where she contributed to periodicals, wrote books and pamphlets, and led protests. Notably, of the latter, she was arrested in 1905 while interrupting a chuch service attended by President Theodore Roosevelt. Her activism brought her in contact with novelist Israel Zangwill. In addition, she found time to write two novels. She never married and died on 5 November 1950 in New York.
