Author: Sarah Catherine Whitty (1834–1912)
Biography: Sarah C. Whitty was born in 1834 in Liverpool, the daughter of newspaper proprietor Michael James Whitty, the owner of the first penny paper Liverpool Daily Post and an author of fiction. Her older brother was the author Edward Michael Whitty. In middle age, she published an anonymous novel Wife and Child (1869). She never married and died on 22 July 1912 in West Derby.
