Biography: Sara Mackenzie Kennedy was born on 20 April 1856 in London, the daughter of Somersetshire landowner John Bisdee and his wife Henrietta (née Miller). In 1881, she married army officer Herbert John Whiteside Mackenzie Kennedy in India. The couple resided for many years in India and had several children. On her return to England, Kennedy turned to writing beginning with St. Valentine's Day (1900) and producing several more novels in the twentieth century. She died on 9 July 1934 in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
