Biography: Frances Adelaide Newbould was born in 1830 in Sculcoates, the daughter of civil servant James Ingram of the Inland Revenue Department and his wife Margaret. In 1860, she married commission agent William Newbould and the couple lived in Carlton, Nottinghamshire. As a married woman, Newbould wrote two short serials for the Family Herald, "The Christmas Compact" (1864) and "Sheka: or, Under the Telegraph Wires" (1867), under the pseudonym "F. A. N." She subsequently wrote a novel under her own name called Nameless (1876). Late in life, she lived in Brixton with her mother. Mother and daughter died the same day on 6 February 1879 in Brixton.
