Biography: Maud Isabel Howard was born on 26 May 1858 in Greystoke, the daughter of Henry Howard and his wife Charlotte. Through her father, she was connected the noble family of Howard. As a young woman, she wrote a novel Anything for a Diversion (1879) under the pseudonym "G. G." Apparently, she wrote nothing else. In 1890, she married Francis William Leyborne Popham. About a decade later, she moved back to Greystoke where she took an active role in community life. She died on 12 November 1929 in Greystoke. Note: several sources attribute this novel to Howard.
