Author: Arthur Laycock (1868–1957)

Biography: Arthur Laycock was born in 1868 in Stalybridge, Lancashire, the son of photographer Samuel Laycock and his wife Elizabeth. He lived most of his life in Blackpool where he worked as a journalist. In addition, he wrote several novels beginning with Steve, the Outlander (1900). In 1897, he married Emma Whittaker and the couple had two daughters. Notably, he was was elected Blackpool's first socialist councillor in 1906. He died on 16 March 1957 in Torquay.
