Author: George Crampton (1858–1940)
Alternate Name(s): George Cecil Croxon Crampton (legal name)
Biography: George Cecil Croxon Crampton was born around 1858 in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, the son of a Dublin barrister and nephew to a Chief Baron of the Irish Court of Exchequer. He attended Pembroke College, Cambridge before being called to the bar. His law career seems to have been short lived: in the 1890s, Crampton became a cattle rancher in Argentina. Based on his time there, he wrote two novels set in South America. He returned to Europe where he lived in County Wicklow. He married twice: first to Ida Blanche Mitchell in 1895; and second to Agnes A. Sankey in 1912. He does not appear to have had any children. In the 1930s, he moved to Bermuda. He died in 1940 in Bermuda.
