Author: Eleanora H. Stooke (1867–1944)
Biography: Eleanora Hearn Stooke was born on 5 May 1867 in Newton Abbot, the daughter of commercial agent John B. Stooke and his wife Eleanora (née Hearn). She never married. In her twenties, she began writing fiction, both for children and young adult readers. Judging by the censuses, she never left her native town. She died there on 26 June 1844.
