Biography: Louisa Marston was born in 1849 in Chelsea, the daughter of silk merchant Robert Marston and his wife Isabel. In middle age, she began writing fiction for young adults before joining her sister Dr. Alice Marston at the Zenana Bible and Medical Mission in Lucknow, India in 1882. By 1891, she had returned to England where she lived with her cousins near Liskeard, Cornwall. She never married and died on 15 July 1906 in Liskeard. Interestingly, her sister Alice moved to a mission in China in 1889 and died in 1900 in Japan after fleeing Peking during the Boxer Rebellion.
