Biography: Edith Ann Barnett was born in 1853 in Sunbury-on-Thames, the daughter of landowner Thomas Barnett and his wife Sarah. By the 1880s, she was a lecturer and teacher of hygiene and health. In addition to works on health and domestic economy, she wrote a few works of fiction including Dr. and Mrs. Gold (1891) and Sunningham and the Curate (1899). She never married. She died on 16 August 1934 in Worthing a few days after being struck by a car. According to her obituary, she was a worker in the Conservative cause.
