Biography: Elizabeth Buckle was born in 1803 in Ludlow, the daughter of clergyman James Johnson Baines and his wife Mary. In 1834, she married clergyman Matthew Hughes George Buckle and the couple had six children. Buckle lived most of her life in Edlingham where her husband served as vicar. Relatively late in life, she wrote two novels, both published by a minor publisher. They do not seem to have made much of a mark. She died on 29 October 1884 in Edlingham.
