Author: Sarah Selina Hamer (1837–1916)
Biography: Sarah Selina Hamer was born about 1837 in Bury, the daughter of a farmer. Her father died during her childhood. She never married and worked as a schoolmistress in Chorlton. In addition to her schoolroom duties, she wrote a handful of fiction titles aimed at young adult readers. She died on 14 November 1916 in Wilmslow. Note: not to be confused with miscellaneous author Sarah Sharp Hamer (1839–1927) who used the pseudonym "Phillis Browne".
