Biography: Dora M. Jones was born in 1863 in Bocking, the daughter of Weslayan minister William R. Jones and his wife Sarah. The family moved often during her childhood, the censuses showing the family living in Bocking, Barton Regis, Huddersfield, and London. In her twenties, Jones became a journalist and author, writing several novels beginning with Ruth Lavender (1890). She was also the assistant editor of Travel for a time. She never married and died on 12 June 1953 in Cuckfield.
