Author: William Pickard Mann (1815–1879)

Biography: Edward Pickard Mann was born about 1815 in Leyburn, the son of Edward Mann and Jane (née Pickard). He trained for the church at St Bees but does not seem to have been ordained. He instead became a schoolmaster in his native town. Among his various works, mostly of a religious subject, he wrote two novels. He never married and died in 1879 in Leyburn.
