Biography: Jane Euphemia Browne was born on 27 January 1811 in Bridekirk, Cumberland, the daughter of William Browne. In middle age, she published a collection of poetry some of which were made into hymns. She followed this up with two more collections and a short novel. In 1862, she married clergyman Stephen H. Saxby, a man twenty years her junior. They lived in Clevedon where he was the vicar. She died on 25 March 1898 in Clevedon.
