Author: Ellen Louisa Davis (1858–1938)
Biography: Ellen Louisa Davis was born in 1858 in Horsley, the daughter of clergyman Charles Henry Davis and his wife Rosa Sophia (née Jones). Her father was the curate of Horsley and subsequently rector of Littleton Drew. Davis never married and turned to fiction in her twenties beginning with A Boy's Will (1884). She would go on to publish about a dozen more titles. In 1911, she was living in Bath. She died on 1 October 1938 in Acton.
