Biography: Digby Pilot Starkey was born in 1806 in Dublin. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin (B.A. 1827, M.A. 1833, LL.D. 1867) before being called to the Irish bar. He served as the accountant general in the Court of Chancery in Ireland. In addition to his legal duties, he contributed to the Dublin University Magazine under the pseudonym "Advena," wrote several works of poetry, and published the single novel John Twiller (1869). He died on 15 November 1876 in London.
