Biography: Edith Walford was born on 1 February 1847 in London, the daughter of boot and shoe maker William Walford and his wife Elizabeth Porter. As a young woman, she began translating and contributing to periodicals. Her stories from the Quiver were collected as Little Content and Other Stories (1870). In 1871, she married colliery agent John George Blumer. After her marriage, Walford gave up writing. In the 1880s, the family moved to southern California. She died on 3 April 1926 in Sierra Madre, California.
