Biography: Laurence Esmonde White was born on 9 October 1811 in Wexford. He entered the army as an ensign in 1831, was promoted to lieutenant, and later served as paymaster for the 1st Dragoons. In 1840, he married Francis Taylor and the couple had two children. Based on his birthplace, he wrote the single work of fiction Irish Coast Tales of Love and Adventure (1865). He died on 6 December 1872 in Dublin.
