Author: Mary Louisa Bekenn (1836–1923)

Biography: Mary Louisa Bekenn was born on 5 August 1836 in Birmingham, the daugher of German merchant Frederick Albert Bekenn and his wife Mary Underhill. Her early life cannot be traced but she may have spent some period in Germany. In middle life, she wrote the novel Ursula (1880) and there is no evidence she wrote anything else. She never married and died on 9 January 1923 in Bournemouth.
