Author: Helena Brett (1848–1905)

Biography: Helena Brett was born on 26 November 1848 in Stoke Newington, the youngest daughter of surgeon Robert Brett and his second wife Maria Hill Reynolds. In her twenties, she turned her hand to poetry and fiction, producing one volume of verse and two novels. She would continue to contribute to periodicals over her life. Late in life she moved to Worthing with her sister. Brett never married and died on 29 August 1905 in Worthing.
