Author: Annabella Maria Browne (1833–1907)

Biography: Annabelle Maria Browne was born in 1833 in Uley, the daughter of landowner Benjamin Chapman Browne and his wife Mary Ann Lloyd Baker. Based on the census records, it appears Browne lived the whole of her life in Uley. She never married and spent much of her time in philanthropic endeavors, including as secretary of the Dursley branch of the Girls' Friendly Society. She wrote the single book Live Dolls (1873) which was illustrated by her brother. Browne died on 23 September 1907 in Uley. Her obituary praised her charitable works.
