Author: Agnes Catlow (1806–1889)

Biography: Agnes Catlow was born on 27 September 1806 in Mansfield, the daughter of Samuel Catlow and his wife Elizabeth. Her younger sister was Maria Elizabeth Catlow, born 23 March 1809. The two sisters lived together their entire lives in Surrey, jointly penning a number of books together including one work of fiction The Children's Garden and What They Made of It (1865). Much of their work aimed at educating children about nature. Neither married. Agnes died on 10 May 1889 in Addlestone and Maria followed on 29 November 1893.
